Hay Fever, the latest offering from BAT Theatre, takes the audience on a bizarrely funny weekend with the eccentric Bliss family. Hay Fever offers offbeat humor that keeps ramping up as the Bliss’ weekend unravels, and the guests become increasingly more uncomfortable. I absolutely loved this show and plan to see it again before the run is over.

Meet with BAT Theatre’s script club online on November 19, 2020, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm (PST). This month the script club is discussing the comedy Hay Fever by Noël Coward. 

Set in 1970’s Argentina sometime after a right-wing military coup, Manuel Puig’s Kiss of the Spider Woman takes place in a prison, and showcases the relationship between two cellmates. This latest offering from BAT Theatre explores and challenges traditional thoughts on gender roles, companionship, sexuality and humanity.

For the past two years the Northwest Symphony Orchestra has partnered with Washington’s National Parks to celebrate “National Parks at Benaroya” Due to Covid it’s not possible this year to gather in person…but we can STILL celebrate music and our national parks with a special event…so we SHALL.

Burien Actors Theatre’s (BAT) first Shelter-in-place Season has just one more weekend of online performance readings. Next up at BAT, They Promised Her the Moon by Laurel Ollstein. The performance readings are June 27 at 8 pm, and June 28 at 2 pm. 

BAT’s first Shelter-in-place Season consisted of five plays read online by very talented actors under the guidance of equally talented directors.

They Promised Her the Moon is based on the true story of Jerrie and her female peers in the Mercury 13 Space Program. 

The Highline Heritage Museum and City of Burien are teaming up to document the stories of our community’s experience during COVID-19. The Burien Pandemic Story Project aims to document the stories, photos, and other artifacts of community member’s experiences during the pandemic. We will be publishing some of these stories (with the storyteller’s permission) in the next issue of the Burien Magazine.
